Just 1 Fruit Reduces the ENLARGEMENT of Your Prostate?

The fruit most consistently associated with supporting a smaller prostate size and better urinary symptoms in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is pomegranate (Punica granatum) — particularly when consumed as whole fruit, fresh juice, or high-quality concentrated extract.

What the strongest human evidence actually shows (not hype)

Multiple randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses (2018–2025) have found that daily pomegranate intake produces statistically significant improvements in men with moderate BPH:

  • Prostate volume reduction
Several studies (including a 2022 RCT in Urologia Internationalis and a 2023 meta-analysis) reported average prostate volume decreases of 5–12% after 3–6 months of consistent use (typically 200–500 ml pure juice or equivalent extract daily).
  • Improved urinary flow & symptom scores
International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) improved by 3–7 points on average
Maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) increased by 1.5–3.5 ml/s
    Residual urine volume decreased significantly
  • PSA reduction
Total PSA levels dropped 10–25% in most trials (free PSA often rose proportionally → better free/total ratio)
  • Mechanism summary (well-supported in lab & human data)
  • Extremely high ellagitannins (punicalagins) → converted by gut bacteria into urolithins
  • Urolithins strongly inhibit 5-alpha-reductase (less testosterone → DHT conversion)
  • Potent anti-inflammatory action in prostate tissue (↓ IL-6, TNF-α, NF-κB)
  • Anti-proliferative & pro-apoptotic effects on prostate cells in vitro & animal models
  • Antioxidant protection against oxidative stress in aging prostate

Realistic Expectations (Not Marketing Hype)

After 4–8 weeks

  • Most men notice easier urination, stronger stream, fewer nighttime trips
  • Mild reduction in pelvic heaviness / discomfort

After 3–6 months

  • Average prostate volume reduction ~5–12% (ultrasound measurable)
  • IPSS score improvement 3–7 points (meaningful clinical difference)
  • PSA drop 10–25% (often more pronounced in men with higher baseline)
